John Mayer Charts A New Hit With His Latest Superstar Collaboration

Following

John Mayer has spent much of his time throughout the past several years touring as part of Dead & Company. He regularly plays with the jam band, which must fulfill him creatively, as it takes him away from his own solo career.

The rocker does still find time to produce music on his own from time to time, and even collaborate with other artists. The Grammy winner is back on the charts in America this week thanks to his latest duet, which has become a very quick win for the two credited stars.

Mayer debuts on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart this week with his new collaboration with Zach Bryan. The two worked on “Better Days” together, which opens at No. 45 on Billboard’s list of the most-consumed rock and alternative tunes in the country.

The “Your Body is a Wonderland” musician earns his milestone thirty-fifth career placement on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs tally this frame. The cut marks his first new win on the list since 2021. That year, he scored several smashes, all from from his album Sob Rock, which still stands as his most recent release under his own name.

“Better Days” may start fairly low on the 50-spot Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, but the fact that it appears at all is actually impressive. The tune is included on Bryan’s new album The Great American Bar Scene, which was released on July 4. Since it dropped on Thursday, the title only had one day in which to rack up streams and sales, leading to debuts on a number of rankings for both the full-length and the tracks featured on it.

While Mayer is only credited on one cut from The Great American Bar Scene, plenty of tracks from the album debut on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart this week. Nine of the 19 songs featured on the project open on the list, and the superstar collaboration isn’t the biggest of the bunch. In fact, it’s the sixth-highest-ranking of the new smashes.

In a few days, when Billboard refreshes its charts, there’s a good chance that “Better Days” will climb. Once the tune has enjoyed a full seven days in which to be consumed by the American public, it will probably become a much bigger hit. The cut could also reach other, related lists, as The Great American Bar Scene also soars on various tallies.
