Afrobeats Hits

Nigerian superstar Asake comes out swinging on the Travis Scott collab “Active”. Produced by Sarz and MIKE DEAN, “Active” is a high-energy ode to confidence that melds Afrobeats and house, with nods to Jazzman Olofin and Adewale Ayuba’s 2004 hit “Raise Da Roof”, an alignment to the Nigerian heritage that Asake celebrates on his new album Lungu Boy. “I went to hang out with Sarz at his house,” Asake tells Apple Music. “When I heard [the beat], the first thing that came to my mind was, ‘Oh man, I’m active.’ I hung out with Travis at one of his house parties, and we connected. Lungu Boy is my heritage and culture, [shared with] the rest of the world. I strive to share my African heritage with the world through a blend that goes beyond just a sound.” Hear “Active” on Afrobeats Hits, the home of today’s biggest and best tracks from the genre that blends the sounds of West African culture with everything from rap and dancehall to R&B and house.
