Bad Boys Blue

About Bad Boys Blue

Bad Boys Blue – German euro-disco Band was formed in the summer of 1984 by a record label Coconut Records, by producer Tony Hendrik and his lyricist wife Karin van Haaren in Cologne 1984. The group performed many international hits including “You’re a Woman”, “Pretty Young Girl”, “I Wanna Hear Your Heartbeat”, and “Come Back and Stay”.
Initially, the band wanted to be called “Bad Guys”, then “Bad Boys”, but stopped at “Bad Boys Blue”, because of the obvious alliteration, so the musicians performed in blue stage costumes

Band members due to the fact that they were of different nationalities, the group has experienced numerous line-up changes.

The original trio consisted of singers Trevor “Supa T” Taylor from Jamaica (the original lead vocalist), John McInerney from the UK, and Andrew Thomas from the US.

The band released their debut single L.O.V.E. In My Car in September 1984. The lead vocals belonged to Andrew Thomas. The record enjoyed some success at discos and clubs, but it did not hit the charts. The real success of the trio came only in the spring of 1985, when the next single You’re A Woman, which became their first and main hit, made a splash in many European countries, instantly being in the top ten of the best songs. In September 1985, the song was released on the debut album “Hot Girls, Bad Boys”.

Currently, the band Bad Boys Blue consists of John McInerney and two backing vocalists – Sylvia McInerney, John’s wife, and Edith Miracle.
