Chisholm (elbow) isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox. Chisholm had to make an early exit from Monday's game after injuring his elbow sliding into home plate. Initial X-rays came back negative, but he'll sit out Tuesday's contest in order to recover. Oswaldo Cabrera will cover the hot corner instead and bat eighth.
X-rays on Chisholm's left elbow returned negative Tuesday night, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. The team initially reported that Chisholm would be sent for imaging Tuesday, and while he's still scheduled to undergo an MRI in the morning, this appears to be good news for fantasy managers. It remains unclear at this time whether the third baseman will be cleared to start Tuesday's game.
Gil (12-6) took the loss Monday against the White Sox, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out three. The New York rookie failed to collect his third consecutive win against a feeble Chicago lineup that laced seven hits, the most Gil has allowed since giving up eight to Baltimore on June 20. The 26-year-old stumbled out the gate at Guarantee Rate Field, walking Nicky Lopez to open the game and giving up two run-scoring doubles in the first inning. Overall, Gil has now pitched to a 3.25 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 141:60 K:BB across 121.2 innings this season. He is currently scheduled to make his next start at home against Cleveland next week.

Ben Rice pinch hit for Chisholm in the seventh inning and Hoch notes that the broadcast captured video of the 26-year-old moving his arm around in the dugout after scoring in the fifth. The team has yet to reveal any additional details on Chisholm's injury, so he'll be considered day-to-day until further notice.
Holmes won't be available to pitch Monday against the White Sox for rest purposes, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Holmes was forced to battle to secure a four-out save during Sunday's 8-7 victory over the Rangers, firing 24 of 45 pitches for strikes. Skipper Aaron Boone failed to disclose who he would deploy in a save situation Monday, only that Holmes would be shut down for the day following a heavy workload.
LeMahieu will start at first base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the White Sox. LeMahieu will remain in the lineup for the fourth time in five games, but all four starts have come against left-handed pitching. The Yankees are seemingly viewing LeMahieu as a short-side platoon player these days with left-handed hitters Ben Rice and Jazz Chisholm holding down the fort at the two corner-infield spots.
