Green (concussion) reverted to Detroit's reserve/injured list Tuesday after clearing waivers, per the NFL transaction log. Green hauled in all three of his targets for 13 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Giants before leaving due to a concussion he sustained on a block attempt in the second quarter. The 2023 seventh-round pick was getting reps with the Lions' first-team offense alongside wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams early in training camp. However, now that he's on IR, Green will be forced to miss the entire 2024 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Detroit.
Arnold, who left Monday's practice with a pectoral injury, is expected to be available for the Lions' regular-season opener against the Rams on Sept. 8, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Arnold has picked up a couple of injuries during training camp, and while none have resulted in a long-term absence, it appears he'll be held out for the Lions' final two preseason games. The rookie first-rounder is expected to start at outside corner opposite seven-year veteran Carlton Davis. Arnold will get his first taste of NFL action against veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford and All-Pro wideouts Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua in Week 1.
Galvin (knee) reverted to Detroit's injured reserve list Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The Lions waived Galvin with an injury designation Sunday, so he'll now go to their injured reserve list after clearing waivers. He's expected to remain there for the rest of the year as he recovers from a torn MCL.
Fromm signed with the Lions on Monday. Fromm will head to Detroit after spending last season on Washington's practice squad. The 2020 fifth-round pick will now compete for the team's backup quarterback spot alongside Nate Sudfeld and Hendon Hooker (concussion).
Gibbs left Monday's practice early due to a hamstring injury, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports. Hamstring injuries can be tricky to gauge, so it remains to be seen how serious the issue is for Gibbs. When healthy, he is expected to play a predominant role in Detroit's offense. Expect the Lions to err on the side of caution with their prized backfield asset in order to ensure his long-term health.
Rakestraw had to leave practice early Monday after sustaining an ankle injury, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports. Rakestraw secured two total tackles while playing 37 snaps with the defensive unit and 11 with special teams in Thursday's 14-3 loss to the Giants. It's unclear what the severity of the ankle injury he suffered Monday is, but more information on his status will likely be provided in the near future.
Arnold was forced to leave Monday's practice early with an upper body injury, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports. Arnold played 13 snaps in Thursday's preseason opener against the Giants, failing to record any stats. The cornerback is now dealing with an undisclosed upper body injury that he suffered at practice Monday and it's unclear if he'll be forced to miss any additional time as a result. More information on Arnold's status will likely be provided in the near future.
