Seattle activated Thomas (knee) from its active/PUP list Monday after he passed a physical, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Thomas finally appears to be fully recovered from the knee injury he sustained during Week 9 of last season. Now he'll have an outside chance to earn a spot on the Seahawks' final 53-man roster for the 2024 season.

Latest Seahawks News
Drake Thomas : Comes off PUP list
Seattle activated Thomas (knee) from its active/PUP list Monday after he passed a physical, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Thomas finally appears to be fully recovered from the knee injury he sustained during Week 9 of last season. Now he'll have an outside chance to earn a spot on the Seahawks' final 53-man roster for the 2024 season.
Geno Smith : Not expected to suit up vs. Titans
Coach Mike Macdonald said Monday that Seattle's starters, Smith included, aren't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Titans, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports. Macdonald looks set to hold the Seahawks' starting units out of a second straight exhibition matchup, as Smith also didn't suit up this past Saturday against the Chargers. Instead, Macdonald stressed that the starters will get plenty of reps during joint practices with Tennessee, which will be fully padded. Smith dealt with hip and knee injuries earlier in training camp but has been a full participant at practice as of late.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba : Two catches in preseason opener
Smith-Njigba brought in both targets for 13 yards in the Seahawks' 16-3 preseason win over the Chargers on Saturday night. The second-year wideout operated as the de facto No. 1 receiver for spot starter Sam Howell with Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf both held out. Both of Smith-Njigba's catches came on the Seahawks' third possession, and looking ahead to the 2024 regular season, the 2023 first-round pick could make a serious push to overtake Lockett for No. 2 receiver duties after posting a solid 63-628-4 line across 17 regular-season games as a rookie.
Zach Charbonnet : Two touches in preseason opener
Charbonnet rushed twice for six yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Seahawks' 16-3 preseason win over the Chargers on Saturday night. Charbonnet drew the start with Kenneth Walker sitting out and was featured on the opening possession, logging a one-yard gain on the Seahawks' first play from scrimmage before drawing a target and recording a five-yard run on consecutive plays later in the drive. Charbonnet appears set to fill a complementary role alongside Walker once again to open the season, one that afforded him 141 touches across 454 snaps from scrimmage over 16 regular-season games in his rookie 2023 campaign.
Sam Howell : Plenty of time in preseason opener
Howell completed 16 of 27 passes for 130 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and rushed four times for 17 yards in the Seahawks' 16-3 preseason win over the Chargers on Saturday night. Howell drew the start due to Geno Smith being a healthy scratch, and the offseason arrival played until just the halfway point of the third quarter. The 2022 fifth-round pick of the Commanders led two first-half touchdown drives and also spearheaded a 14-play, 84-yard march on his last possession that ended on downs at the Chargers' two-yard line. It was a relatively solid in-game Seahawks debut for Howell, who seems to have a clear advantage over journeyman PJ Walker for the No. 2 quarterback job heading into Seattle's second preseason game next Saturday night at Tennessee.
Matthew Gotel : Reverts to IR
Gotel reverted to the Seahawks' injured reserve Saturday after clearing waivers, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Gotel was waived/injured by the Seahawks on Friday due to a high-ankle sprain. The 25-year-old defensive tackle will now be forced to sit out for all of 2024 unless he reaches an injury settlement with Seattle.
Noah Fant : To resume practicing next week
Fant (foot) likely will return to practice next week, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Fant made an early exit from Tuesday's practice session due to a foot injury, which presumably will keep him out for Saturday's preseason game at the Chargers. With Fant sidelined this weekend, Pharaoh Brown, Tyler Mabry and Brady Russell are next up for TE reps in the Seahawks offense.
Geno Smith : Unlikely to play Saturday
Smith isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason contest at the Chargers, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Smith has tended to hip and knee injuries during training camp, so it's no surprise that coach Mike Macdonald will delay what may be just a cameo for the first-team offense during exhibition season. In two campaigns as the Seahawks' starting quarterback, he's averaged 247.1 passing yards per game while accruing a 50:20 TD:INT across 32 regular-season contests.
