Latest Raiders News
Keelan Doss : Placed on injured reserve
The Raiders placed Doss (undisclosed) on injured reserve Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log. It's unclear what is ailing Doss, but it caused him to miss Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings. The 28-year-old wide receiver will be forced to miss the entire 2024 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Las Vegas.
Nathan Peterman : Returns to Raiders
The Raiders signed Peterman to the training camp roster Tuesday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports. Peterman was let go by the Saints on Aug. 2, and it didn't take long for the journeyman quarterback to catch onto another team. The 2017 fifth-round pick appeared in two games for the Raiders across 2020 and 2021. If Peterman wishes to secure a spot on Las Vegas' 53-man roster, he'll have to beat out Carter Bradley and Anthony Brown for the No. 3 emergency quarterback job behind Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell.
Davante Adams : Back with teammates
Adams rejoined his teammates Sunday after the recent birth of his son, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Adams missed the last five practices before he was absent from Saturday's preseason loss at Minnesota, according to coach Antonio Pierce. It's unclear if Adams will make an appearance during one of the Raiders' last two exhibitions, but the quarterback throwing him passes Week 1 and beyond seemingly will be known after Saturday's contest against the Cowboys. Pierce is expected to make a call between veteran Gardner Minshew and second-year pro Aidan O'Connell this weekend, but even with five different QBs targeting Adams in two campaigns in Las Vegas, he surpassed 1,100 yards on both occasions while recording 22 touchdowns in 34 regular-season games.
Aidan O'Connell : Las Vegas nearing QB1 decision
Raiders coach Antonio Pierce said Sunday that he plans to name a starting quarterback between O'Connell and Gardner Minshew after Saturday's preseason game versus Dallas, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Pierce also said that O'Connell and Minshew are both slated to play at least one quarter during this exhibition with the Cowboys, which is in line with the playing time that they got during Saturday's 24-23 loss to Minnesota. O'Connell did ultimately start versus the Vikings, but he's been splitting first-team practice reps throughout training camp and appears to be on even footing with Minshew following this preseason opener. O'Connell was solid during his 11 regular-season appearances as a rookie last year, and he completed seven of nine passing attempts for 76 yards during his lone offensive series against Minnesota. He'll also have a chance to separate himself during a week of practices before getting to Saturday's game against Dallas.
Gardner Minshew : Starting battle nearing conclusion
Raiders coach Antonio Pierce said Sunday that he expects to name a starting quarterback between Minshew and Aidan O'Connell following Saturday's preseason game against Dallas, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Pierce said that Minshew and O'Connell will once again play at least one quarter during this upcoming preseason game with Dallas. The two signal-callers have been splitting first-team practice reps throughtout training camp, and, while O'Connell ultimately got the start during last Saturday's 24-23 loss to Minnesota, both quarterbacks saw relatively equal playing time and neither appeared to separate themselves with their performances during the preseason opener. With this competition seemingly in a dead heat up to this point, it's likely that how Minshew and O'Connell perform against the Cowboys and during upcoming practices could weigh rather significantly in this final decision.
Jackson Powers-Johnson : Almost ready to return
Powers-Johnson (undisclosed) might be ready to return from the active/PUP list next week, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports. The offensive guard was placed on the active/PUP list July 23. A second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Powers-Johnson looks primed for a starting role once he returns.
Kolton Miller : Might return next week
Miller (shoulder) might be ready to return from the active/PUP list after the Raiders' preseason game next Saturday against the Cowboys, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports. The left tackle suffered a shoulder injury near the end of last season and began training camp on the active/PUP list. The 2018 first-round pick has started 90 games for the Raiders in his career. Miller is again listed as Las Vegas' starting left tackle going into 2024.
Tre Tucker : Big gains Saturday
Tucker caught two of four targets for 73 yards in Saturday's 24-23 preseason loss to the Vikings. He also added 23 yards on one punt return. Davante Adams got the night off, leaving Jakobi Meyers and Tucker as the Raiders' starting wideouts, and the latter wound up leading the team in receiving yards thanks to gains of 29 and 44 yards on successive second-quarter touchdown drives with Gardner Minshew under center. Tucker has drawn plenty of praise from the coaching staff in camp, and the 2023 third-round pick could be headed for a breakout campaign if he can earn enough volume in a passing game that also has to find targets for tight ends Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer.
