Latest Titans News
TK McLendon : Plays 20 snaps vs. 49ers
McLendon (shoulder) registered one tackle in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over San Francisco. McLendon played all 20 of his snaps on defense in the Titans' preseason opener. He appeared in seven regular-season games for Tennessee last season, finishing with eight tackles (three solo) while missing the final contest with a shoulder injury. McLendon is competing for a depth spot at defensive end behind starters Sebastian Joseph-Day and Jeffery Simmons.
Jamal Adams : Should return this week
Adams (soreness) is likely to return to the team this week, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. The safety dealt with a knee injury in Seattle last season, though it remains unclear if that issue is the source of this one. Adams was released by the Seahawks in May after playing just 10 regular season games the past two seasons. The three-time All-Pro signed with the Titans in July and could open the 2024 campaign as the team's starting strong safety.
Treylon Burks : Takes field with first unit
Burks hauled in his lone reception for 12 yards in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over the 49ers. Burks continues to run with the first-unit offense alongside Calvin Ridley while DeAndre Hopkins (knee) remains questionable for the start of the regular season. The larger role would certainly boost Burks' fantasy stock, which took a hit following the signing of Ridley this past offseason. Even when the Titans' veteran wideouts are healthy, Burks figures to remain a part of the passing game in a slot role.
Tyjae Spears : Sees four touches to Pollard’s six
Spears rushed three times for two yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for two yards in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over the Titans. Tony Pollard was the first back deployed in Saturday's exhibition, but Spears had his touches mixed in with the first-unit offense. The 23-year-old didn't do much with his four touches in comparison to co-starter Pollard (6-46-0), but he was able to cash in a short touchdown run behind a revamped offensive line. Both backs should continue to get plenty of run this preseason as they jockey for position atop Tennessee's depth chart.
Calvin Ridley : Makes splash play in TEN debut
Ridley had one reception off of two targets for 22 yards in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over the 49ers. Ridley was able to rip off a big gain with his new club when he took a short pass and made a couple of defenders miss in the open field. The 30-year-old wound up seeing two of starting quarterback Will Levis' five targets in the exhibition win. The Titans were without the services of DeAndre Hopkins (knee) on Saturday, who is expected to miss at least a few more weeks with a knee injury. Ridley handled the No. 1 wideout role in the veteran's stead, but he figures to start alongside Nuk once the latter is cleared to return.
Will Levis : Starts and scores Saturday
Levis completed four of five pass attempts for 35 yards while making two rushing attempts for three yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over San Francisco. Levis started the game's first two drives along with the rest of Tennessee's first unit as the offense looks to build a new identity under head coach Brian Callahan. The big-framed quarterback scored a rushing touchdown from in close, something we may see more often now that power back Derrick Henry is in Baltimore. With a revamped coaching staff and receiving corps, 2024 is poised to be a pivotal year for Levis' development both as the Titans' franchise quarterback and as a rising fantasy asset.
Tony Pollard : Leads backfield in debut with TEN
Pollard rushed four times for 35 yards and a caught both of his targets for 11 yards in Saturday's 17-13 win over the 49ers. Pollard was the first back utilized in Saturday's preseason opener and wound up leading the team with six combined touches for 46 yards. Tyjae Spears finished with just four total yards on four touches in the exhibition win, but he scored the only rushing touchdown out of the duo. Pollard showed good burst and acceleration in his brief debut Saturday, and he remains the preferred fantasy target out of Tennessee's backfield as we enter draft season.
Luke Gifford : In concussion protocol
Gifford exited Saturday night's preseason game against the 49ers with a head injury and is in concussion protocol, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports. Gifford made a tackle on the exhibition's opening kickoff. The special teams specialist will now need to advance through the league's protocol before being allowed back on the field. Turning 29 later this month, Gifford is entering his second season in Tennessee after spending the first four years of his career in Dallas.
