Sterns (knee) did not participate at practice Tuesday, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports. It's not clear when Sterns suffered the knee injury or how long it might keep him sidelined. Until he's able to return, rookie Andre' Sam could see increased opportunities at practice.

Latest Eagles News
Caden Sterns : Tending to knee issue
Sterns (knee) did not participate at practice Tuesday, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports. It's not clear when Sterns suffered the knee injury or how long it might keep him sidelined. Until he's able to return, rookie Andre' Sam could see increased opportunities at practice.
Andre' Sam : Could see more reps
Sam could be in line for increased practice reps as Philadelphia deals with multiple injuries in its safety room. A few Eagles safeties are currently nursing health issues, including C.J. Gardner-Johnson (shoulder), Sydney Brown (knee), Mekhi Garner (hamstring) and Caden Sterns (knee). If they remain sidelined, Sam could get more opportunities to impress his coaches during drills. Even still, he's a longshot to make the final 53-man roster for 2024.
Cooper DeJean : Progresses to individual drills
DeJean (hamstring) began participating in individual drills during Tuesday's practice session, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports. DeJean told reporters after practice Tuesday that he felt good after his drills, and he is aiming to play in the Eagles' preseason finale against the Vikings on Aug. 24, per Kubena. DeJean started training camp on the NFI list due to a hamstring strain he sustained during offseason practice, and if he were able to suit up against Minnesota, it would likely only be for one or two defensive series. The rookie second-round pick is expected to be utilized across multiple positions on the Eagles' defense, which ranked 26th in the league last season in yards allowed per game (356.1).
Parris Campbell : Returns to limited practice
Campbell (groin) returned to practice Tuesday as a limited participant, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports. Campbell was out for more than a week, missing a handful of practices as well as Philadelphia's preseason opener. Limited participation Tuesday suggests he's not likely to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots, but he's at least on the right track to suit up for the final exhibition Aug. 24 against Minnesota. Campbell opened camp as Philadelphia's No. 3 receiver in three-wide sets -- a role he'll need to defend against competition from Johnny Wilson, John Ross and others.
Quinyon Mitchell : Getting reps in slot
Mitchell has recently been getting most of the first-team reps at slot corner during training camp, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Mitchell, the rookie first-round pick by the Eagles, has seemingly captured the starting slot corner job from seven-year veteran Avonte Maddox. Mitchell primarily played at outside corner at Toledo, but Philadelphia already has Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers and Kelee Ringo at that position. Mitchell started Friday's preseason game against the Ravens at outside corner before being bumped to the slot, and head coach Vic Fangio said Sunday that it would "be ideal" for the rookie corner to focus his workload on one position. Mitchell played 30 snaps Friday (24 on defense, six on special teams) and finished with one pass defended and zero tackles.
Caden Sterns : Signs with Philadelphia
Sterns signed with the Eagles on Sunday. The safety was waived with a failed physical designation by Carolina on Aug. 8. Sterns played in just one game for Denver last year after tearing his patellar tendon in Week 1. The 2021 fifth-round pick has played in just six contests over the past two seasons.
Albert Okwuegbunam : Sits out of practice
Okwuegbunam (abdomen) missed practice Sunday, Zach Berman of PHLY reports. The tight end dealt with a hamstring issue last season, but this listing appears to be new. Okwuegbunam was also still out there for the session and appeared to just be "getting the day off," per Chris Franklin of NJ.com. The fifth-year pro is listed as the fourth tight end on Philadelphia's depth chart and did not catch a pass in his first season with the team last year.
Grant Calcaterra : Misses practice
Calcaterra (shoulder) sat out of practice Sunday, Zach Berman of PHLY reports. The injury listing appears to be new for the Eagles No. 2 tight end, and he was still out there with the team during the session, per Chris Franklin of NJ.com. Calcaterra has impressed this training camp and appears in line for the second tight end slot behind starter Dallas Goedert. The third-year pro caught nine balls over his first two seasons.
