Bryant signed with the Commanders on Tuesday. The Cowboys signed Bryant to their practice squad in November, shortly after he was reinstated from an NFL suspension. He then signed a futures contract in January, only to be released in May before the start of offseason practices. The 32-year-old wideout last played in a regular-season game in 2018, making him unlikely to earn a significant role in Washington even though the team has a need at wide receiver behind No. 1 target Terry McLaurin.

Latest Commanders News
Martavis Bryant : Signs with Commanders
Bryant signed with the Commanders on Tuesday. The Cowboys signed Bryant to their practice squad in November, shortly after he was reinstated from an NFL suspension. He then signed a futures contract in January, only to be released in May before the start of offseason practices. The 32-year-old wideout last played in a regular-season game in 2018, making him unlikely to earn a significant role in Washington even though the team has a need at wide receiver behind No. 1 target Terry McLaurin.
Braeden Daniels : Clear of shoulder injury
Daniels logged 27 snaps in Washington's preseason opener versus the Jets. Per Bryan Manning of Commanders Wire, Daniels worked at right tackle in the exhibition contest despite Washington's brass likely viewing him as a guard. The 2023 third-round draft pick missed all of last season due to a torn rotator cuff and isn't a lock to make the Commanders' 53-man roster, though he has a chance to build his case in the preseason, especially if he can thrive at the tackle position, which is currently an area of need.
Ricky Stromberg : Plays in preseason opener
Stromberg (knee) played 41 snaps (40 on offense, one on special teams) in Saturday's 20-17 preseason loss to the Jets. Stromberg appeared in four games for the Commanders in 2023 before sustaining a season-ending knee injury in Week 8 against the Eagles. He's competing for a depth spot on Washington's offensive line.
Sam Hartman : Dealing with shoulder issue
Hartman is out for the week with a shoulder injury, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. It's not clear at this point when Hartman picked up the injury or how serious it might be. His absence should open up some reps at practice for veteran journeymen Marcus Mariota and Jeff Driskel.
Jordan Magee : Picks up knee injury
Magee sustained a knee injury during Saturday's game against the Jets, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. It's not clear at this point just how severe the issue might be, but Coach Dan Quinn said Monday that it would keep Magee out for the rest of the week. His absence could open up some opportunities for fellow rookie Bo Bauer to make an impression during drills.
Jeremy McNichols : Rotates with Rodriguez
McNichols had three carries for 10 yards and one catch for eight yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Jets. McNichols and Chris Rodriguez split snaps throughout the first half, after Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler were removed following the opening drive. It's a good sign for McNichols' chances of at least earning a spot on the practice squad, at which point he could be the injury replacement for Ekeler (while Rodriguez would be the natural fit to fill in for Robinson). McNichols spent most of last year on San Francisco's practice squad, and he's bounced around the league as a passing-down back and special-teams player ever since the Buccaneers took him in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Chris Rodriguez : Splits time with McNichols
Rodriguez took six carries for no gain and saw one incomplete target during Saturday's 20-17 preseason loss to the Jets. It wasn't an ideal start to the preseason for Rodriguez, and not just because of the unfortunate stat line. He rotated with Jeremy McNichols once Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler were pulled from the game after the opening drive, hinting at a competition between Rodriguez and McNichols for the No. 3 job. Granted, it might not be an especially important distinction, with Rodriguez profiling as a possible replacement for Robinson and McNichols a more natural fit to fill in for Ekeler's role. Landing on the practice squad or gameday inactive list for Week 1 wouldn't necessarily preclude Rodriguez from taking on a significant role in the event of a Robinson injury.
Dyami Brown : Shines in preseason opener
Brown started Saturday's preseason loss to the Jets and caught two of three targets for 55 yards. Brown had a 42-yard gain on the third play of the game, catching a perfectly thrown deep pass from rookie QB Jayden Daniels. Brown continued playing well into the second quarter and caught a 13-yard pass from third-string QB Jeff Driskel on an afternoon when Terry McLaurin was the only Washington wideout to be pulled from the game at the same time as Daniels. Probable No. 2 receiver Jahan Dotson also played throughout the first half, and rookie third-round pick Luke McCaffrey got each of his three targets after halftime. Brown thus seems to be in the mix for a top-3 role, primarily competing with Dotson, McCaffrey and Olamide Zaccheaus for playing time behind McLaurin.
